Oliver Brown - British PGA Teaching ProfessionalMy home town is Cambridge in the UK. I joined the Windermere Golf & Country Club after taking a year out to do a little bit of travelling and getting my golf game back. Before my year out I was a full time golf coach at the Royal Golf & Country Club in Bahrain.
I began playing golf quite late at the age of 15, but showed immediate aptitude for the game and rapidly achieved a single figure handicap with help from renowned tour coach, Dennis Pugh.
Following a six month intensive training course and amateur competition schedule in Queensland, Australia. I returned the UK in 2003 to train as a PGA Golf Professional. Whilst in my first position at Brampton Park GC my playing career flourished competing in East Region and Thompson Tour events.
I moved to the prestigious Royal Jersey Golf Club which sparked my real passion of coaching. My first responsibility was to set up and develop the clubs junior academy.
Having finished my training at the PGA, I qualified as a full time PGA Golf Professional at the beginning of 2007 and joined Hilden Park GC where I flourished as a full time coach.
After two seasons at Hilden Park GC I moved to The Royal Golf & Country Club, Bahrain. I had an incredible time developing and watching the club grow from the ground upwards. When I arrived the club was a shell and when I left the club was holding a European Tour event.
I was put in charge, with 2 other golf professionals to help design the Royal's golf academy, golf suits and custom fitting room with a fully stocked repairs facility as well as coaching all levels of ability.
My passion is to introduce golf to beginners but have found that my simplicity in my approach to coaching the game has attracted the better player. I was charged with coaching a number of the Bahrain National Team as well as Professionals around the UAE.
